Snatch'd By Grim Death

Snatch'd by grim death, alas too soon he fled,
At prime of life, to join the silent dead,
But when the trumpet, sounds that awful phrase
May angels bright, his soul to Heaven raise.

This sounded like a prayer or poem, but searching hasn't bought a reference up, which surprised me, but there is evidence that it has been used on at least one other epitaph.

This memorial has the initials I H S, which we have learnt from another memorial in this cemetery is aligned with the S symbol with three vertical lines, "is actually the letters I, H, and S superimposed over each other. These represent the Greek letters Iota (Ι), Eta (Η) and Sigma (Σ), which are the first three letters of Jesus in Greek." This particularly reference also may be: "IHS can also stand for the Latin phrase Iesus Hominum Salvator, or Jesus saviour of mankind. It can also be traced back to an 8th century Latin phrase DN IHS CHS REX REGNANTIUM (The Lord Jesus Christ, King of Kings)." (Reference Link)
