You made the sacrifice supreme
Let no man say you died

I couldn't find a reference, but I did find two other epitaphs, one had expanded verse:
You made the sacrifice supreme
Let no man say you died.
Who cherished honor more than life,
in deathless fame enshrined
And we who mourn life high our heads
our sorrow is our pride
We hear your brave laughter
In the granduer of the wind.

Oh how the words pierce my heart, reading through the epitaphs from the paper, from the year 1919 so many lost young men.
